About
A publishing house for an audience of one.
Hekaya makes books with a print run of exactly one child.
Every child already has a story. They tell it constantly — in the games they invent, the questions they ask at bedtime, the things they're brave about and the things they're not yet brave about.
Hekaya takes that and prints it. You tell us who your child is; we write them into an adventure, illustrate them as its hero, and bind it as a hardcover book with their name on the cover.
We care most about the moment a child turns to page one and recognises themselves. Everything else — the paper, the binding, the illustration style, the way the story ends — exists to protect that moment.
What we hold to
The child is the hero
Not a name swapped into a template. The story belongs to them.
Made to be kept
A hardcover book that's still on the shelf in twenty years.
Warm and safe
Age-appropriate stories with kind endings, every time.
Two languages, equally
Arabic and English are both first-class, never an afterthought.
حكاية
Hekaya means "story" in Arabic — the word a parent uses when a child asks for one more before bed. We build the site, the stories and the books in Arabic and English with equal care.
